The original station was closed on March 20 , 1965 following the Beeching Axe , but West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive reopened it on 9 April , 1984 . The current station is unstaffed, and has wooden platforms and no substantial buildings. The station is on the Airedale Line , between Bradford and Leeds , and Skipton . It is a busy Commuter station, but Saltaire is also a popular tourist destination itself. West Yorkshire Metro have announced plans to improve the station, providing a ticket office and heated waiting rooms. The announcement is dated for release on the 1st of June 2004 and it is unknown if the plan is still current. SERVICES Monday to Saturday daytime there is a half-hourly service from Bingley to both Leeds and Bradford Forster Square in one direction and four trains an hour going towards Keighley and Skipton. Evenings there is a half hourly service to Leeds and an hourly service to Bradford Forster Square and three trains per hour to Skipton. Sundays there is an hourly service to Leeds and a two-hourly service to Bradford Forster Square with one or two trains per hour in the other direction to Skipton. EXTERNAL LINKS |
