=The Estuary=
Salcombe is considered to be one of the most pictuesque estuaries in the South West. It is a steep sided estuary with woods and farm land surrounding it. It is of note that the river feeding the estuary is not big enough to form the estuary and that in fact it was carved out by glacial melt water at the end of the Ice Age . See Ria .

The Bar

''The Bar'' is a shallow spit of sand across the entrance to the Estuary that causes the entrance to be nearly impassible on low spring tides in strong southerly winds (as there can be effectively no water in the trough of the wave)

=The Town=
Salcombe is a classic seaside town, with some very good icecream, it is the has the second highest property prices (after Sandbanks, Poole ) outside of central London in the UK.
