Information About

Ryan Key

Ryan Key (born December 17 , 1979 ) is the lead Singer and Rhythm Guitarist of Pop-punk band Yellowcard .

BIOGRAPHY

Born William Ryan Key, Key lived in Jacksonville, Florida , and started play guitar from age 13. He attended Episcopal High School Of Jacksonville before transferring to and graduating from Douglas Anderson School Of The Arts . After which he tried out Florida State University but dropped out. He moved to Santa Cruz, California in hopes of creating some music. He was part of the bands Craig's Brother and Modern Amusement, but neither really worked out. Some of Key's high school friends from Douglas Anderson had formed the band Yellowcard , and when they got rid of original lead singer Ben Dobson, Key was encouraged by lead guitarist Ben Harper to join.
Key convinced the rest of the band to migrate to Ventura County , California . With Key's voice and rhythm guitar, the band produced albums '' One For The Kids '', '' The Underdog EP '', and '' Ocean Avenue '' after which Ben Harper, Key's original recruiter, ironically left. Inspired by Los Angeles ' sights and noises (in a negativer perspective), Key and bassist Pete Mosely got their Yellowcard bandmates to create their most recent album, '' Lights And Sounds ''.
Key stars in numerous music videos including Way Away, Ocean Avenue, Only One, Lights and Sounds, and most recently Rough Landing, Holly.
