Russell is a small Township located south-east of Canada 's capital of Ottawa in eastern Ontario , Canada in the United Counties Of Prescott And Russell , on the Castor River . Russell is located within Canada's National Capital Region . Originally the village of Russell was an agricultural village, but Russell has become a Bedroom Community in recent times, because of its proximity to Ottawa. Residential construction is booming as is population. Despite this, there is still a large agricultural presence in the area which is plainly visible on a drive to the village.
