His own show "The Rudi Carrell Show" was a huge success in Germany in the 80s/90s. The show consisted of a similar concept such as "Star Search" or "Pop Idol" and brought many well-known German pop stars/actors to life, such as Alexis or Mark Keller. In an interview in November 2005 the entertainer confirmed to the magazine '' Bunte '', that he is suffering from Lung Cancer .
