Information AboutRoshek's Department Store |
|
Roshek's Department Store was a former Department Store company that operated out of Dubuque, Iowa . The company was founded by J.J. Roshek. In its prime, Roshek's was the primary shopping destination in Dubuque. Roshek's operated for many years out of a multi-story building at 700 Locust Street in Dubuque. This building, which at 9 stories is one of the tallest buildings in Dubuque, was the home of Roshek's until the 1960s. Roshek's decided to move their operations to the newly constructed Kennedy Mall late in that decade, operating there from 1969 to 1982. The Roshek family sold the stores to Gambles-Skagmo, Inc. Today what was originally Roshek's is now occupied by Sears and part of Younkers . After Roshek's left for the west end of Dubuque, the Roshek's building was converted into an office building. For most of the time since conversion, it has been known as the Dubuque Building, except for a period of several years when it was called CyCare Plaza. The primary tenant of the office building is the McKesson Corporation , which owned the building for a number of years. |
