Roseau County is a County located in the State of Minnesota , United States . As of 2000 , the population is 16,338. Its County Seat is Roseau 6 . GEOGRAPHY According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 4,347 Km&2 (1,678 Mi&2 ). 4,306 km&2 (1,663 mi&2) of it is land and 41 km&2 (16 mi&2) of it is water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 16,338 people, 6,190 households, and 4,438 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 4/km&2 (10/mi&2). There were 7,101 housing units at an average density of 2/km&2 (4/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 95.92% White , 0.13% Black or African American , 1.42% Native American , 1.73% Asian , 0.02% Pacific Islander , 0.08% from Other Races , and 0.70% from two or more races. 0.43% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 6,190 households out of which 38.40% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.00% were Married Couples living together, 6.80% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.30% were non-families. 24.60% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.90% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.11. In the county the population was spread out with 29.80% under the age of 18, 6.80% from 18 to 24, 29.90% from 25 to 44, 20.80% from 45 to 64, and 12.60% who were 65 years of age or older.
