Roger Thorpe Peckinpaugh ( February 5 , 1891 - November 17 , 1977 ) was an American Shortstop in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Indians ( 1910 - 1913 ), New York Yankees ( 1913 - 1921 ), Washington Senators ( 1922 - 1926 ) and Chicago White Sox ( 1927 ). He managed the Yankees for 20 games in 1914 and was the team captain for the remainder of his time with the club. Born in Wooster, Ohio , he won the League Award in the American League in 1925 . After retiring, Peckinpaugh served as the Indians' Manager , and later on became Cleveland's General Manager and president. He died in Cleveland, Ohio at age 86. EXTERNAL LINKS
