Rockingham is a city in Western Australia located 47km south of Perth. It has a population of 85,000 and forms the southernmost border of the Perth metropolitan area.

It was first surveyed in 1847 , it was gazetted as a town in 1897 .
In its early days, Rockingham was a busy port, shipping Jarrah and Sandalwood overseas.
The city fronts onto the sheltered waters of Cockburn Sound and is a popular holiday destination.
On September 9th 2005 a memorial was unveiled at Rockingham beach to commemorate the Catalpa Rescue . The memorial is a large statue of six Wild Geese .
