Belford University and some other online universities are operated by the same person. CRITICISM AND CONTROVERSY On December 15, 2005, CNN aired a report on Diploma Mill s and terrorism. The federal government says he's an explosives and Chemical Weapon s expert for the terrorist group Al Qaeda. So how did this alleged terrorist with a five million dollar bounty on his head earn a Masters in Chemistry from this American university? :Well, we earned it for him with $500 and an Internet connection. And the United States district attorney in Spokane, Washington , says there could be thousands of potential terrorists who have done what we just did." {Link without Title} The reported explained that " H-1B Visa s can be issued to anyone who is highly skilled and can get a job in the U.S. McDevitt is concerned a phony advanced degree could be the first step for someone in a terrorist sleeper cell." {Link without Title} The report explained, " Secret Service agents did what we did, bought their own degree for a perfect terrorist candidate, although theirs was fictional." The person was Mohammed Syed with no formal education, but chemical training and chemical engineering with the Syria n army. "The Secret Service even added to Syed's application that he needed a degree quickly, so he could find employment and obtain an H-1B visa, allowing him to stay in the US."
