''Rio Rita'' is an Abbott And Costello film released in 1942 by MGM . It is a loose remake of the 1929 version that starred another comedy team, Wheeler and Woolsey. It is one of three films Abbott and Costello made on loan to MGM while under contract to Universal. PLOT Nazi spies have infiltrated a resort on the Mexican border, and plan to use a radio broadcast by a famous guest, Ricardo Montera (John Carroll), to transmit coded messages to their fellow saboteurs. Doc and Wishey (Abbott and Costello), stowaways in Montera's car, are put to work as house detectives by the resort's owner, Rita Winslow Kathryn Grayson . The boys uncover the spies and foil their plot TRIVIA During production, Abbott and Costello had their hand and footprints enshrined at Graumann's Chinese Theater on the night of Dec. 8, 1941.
