Richard is the son of Former Philippine cinema Matinee idol Eddie Gutierrez and former actress turned talent manager Annabelle Rama. HIs sister Ruffa Gutierrez is best known as one of the most beautiful celebrities there is today, his Half-brothers Ton-ton Gutierrez is a favorite leading man among many known and famous actresses until now Tonton is still active in showbiz and has acted alongside Richard's and is still one of the best actors of today, another half-brother Ramon Christopher starred with him in Sugo but he was more popular back in the 80's as one of the most popular teenstars at that time but now he made a comeback and will star in different TV shows. He started as a child actor alongside his twin brother Raymond and starred in many movies alongsie their famous father and their brothers but he lay low in showbiz and finished his studies. but after a long rest he went back into showbiz and he was paired with Chynna Ortaleza in different TV and movie projects. But his teamup with Angel Locsin in the hit TV Series Mulawin catapulted both of them and they both became one of the highest paid actors in the Philippines, it was followed by a Movie project that earned One hundred Million pesos in the box office entitled Let the love begin RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTROVERSY He was the ex-boyfriend of Anne Curtis, who is the lead star of '' Kampanerang Kuba '' TV series in ABS-CBN . The two had a video clip that shows torrid kissing scenes taken from Anne's Cellphone that was forwarded through numerous MMS and E-mail s. It was said that her cellular phone got lost and the next thing they knew is that the video clip is already in public. Richard is currently dating Georgina Wilson, a half English half Filipino commercial model who is also the niece of Gloria Diaz , Miss Universe of 1969 . Controversy also struck when he and his friends assaulted 2 inviduals. Richard and company were told of 2 unruly gate crashers so they made plans of dispatching them. Unfortunately, they beat down the wrong individuals. The following week, the victims were on the Rival network and were threatening with legal action. Since Richard was one of the top Talent on GMA, the network made the issue fade quickly as possible. Richard himself has not spoken on the issue and did not halt his increasing popular AWARDS
