Azerbaijan ) is the
Chairman of
Azerbaijan Democratic Party . He has struggled for
Human Rights and
Democracy in Azerbaijan. He worked as the Chairman of the Milli Majlis (
Parliament ) of Republic of
Azerbaijan from November 1993 to November 1995. In 1995, he was re-elected a member of the Milli Majlis and chairman of the parliament of Azerbaijan. He is the author of the books "
Oil And Politics ", "
Path To Democracy " and "
Purpose Of Our Struggle ".
On Octeber 17th, 2005, he was to return to Azerbaijan for the first time in 9 years of exile. He was stopped in
Simferopol ’s airport at the request of Azerbaijani authorities and is now being questioned by an Interpol representative in
Crimea . A decision on the outcome of the case is still pending, according to statements made by the Simferopol regional police department to news agencies.
