Unfortunately, Hobbes' human affiliations were nothing but a sham. During the events of ''Wing Commander III'', it was revealed that he was a Kilrathi infiltration agent, with a "friendly" personality overlaid over his real one to further chances of reaching a position of tactical usefulness — for instance, assistant wing leader to Col. Christopher Blair , who was at the time flying in defense of the Confederation's brand new planet-killer gun, the TCS ''Behemoth''. Special radio transmissions awakened ''nar'' Hhallas' latent Kilrathi personality, and he was instrumental in the destruction of the ''Behemoth''. When he attempted to steal a top-secret F-103 Excalibur space superiority fighter, however, his cover identity was blown. He was eventually downed in honorable combat by Blair, ironically the one Terran who never lost faith in his friend's loyalty to Humanity. ''nar'' Hhallas was played by John Schuck in ''Wing Commander III'' and appeared in the ''Freedom Flight'' and '' Heart of the Tiger'' novelizations. |
