Rainham is a medium sized town with a population of around 30,000. Rainham has grown from Rainham village, which is now at the centre of the town. A large
Clocktower makes the centrepiece of the Broadway.
Schools in Rainham include The Chafford, Parsonage Farm Primary School and Rainham Village Primary School.
The
Norman church is another recognisable landmark of Rainham and is the oldest building in Havering, as well as an adjacent 18th century house dated 1727 which is now in the hands of the National Trust.
Rainham Marshes Nature Reserve is located in nearby
Purfleet .
Tilda Rice operates a main plant from Coldharbour Lane. The waterside area to the south of Rainham is part of the
London Riverside section of the
Thames Gateway project. Havering London Borough Council and
MP for
Hornchurch ,
James Brokenshire have lobbied the
UK Government for permission to construct a 'super casino' in the area to support the local economy. The decision will be made by the government early 2007.

A13 between
Central London and the
Dartford Crossing . The
Channel Tunnel Rail Link passes through Rainham, with
Rainham Railway Station served by
C2c train services. Several
London Bus routes pass through the area.
