HISTORY With RBW's working relationship with the ''United Kingdom Wrestling Alliance'' in full swing, quarter final contests were held to crown a new British Heavyweight Champion. The show, held in Killamarsh on Saturday 22nd November 2003, saw Alan Kilby defeat "Rock 'n' Roll Express" Blondie Barratt , Stixx defeat Domino , James Mason defeat Keith Myatt and "Misfit" Jorge Castano defeat "Golden Boy" Cameron Knite . The semi-finals of this tournament then took place with Alan Kilby defeating Stixx on Saturday 27th December in Nottingham , and James Mason defeating "Misfit" Jorge Castano on Sunday 22nd February in Sheffield . Alan Kilby would go on to defeat Stixx in Nottingham to advance to the finals. The other semi final, James Mason vs Jorge Castano, took place in Sheffield, with James Mason on the winning end. The finals took place on Saturday 8th May 2004 in Sneinton, Nottingham . Alan Kilby won the contest two falls to one, finishing James Mason off with a submission, to win the British Heavyweight Championship. In July 2004, a decision was made to vacate Alan Kilby's Championship, due to changes within RBW, which saw Alan Kirby and the promotion G.N. Wrestling (RBW's Nottingham branch) leave RBW. A new tournament was first announced to take place which spanned through the later part of 2004 and early 2005. A decision was later made for one match to decide the Championship, rather then continuing the tournament, which at this point had seen many changes. The two wrestlers who would receive this honour would be decided by RBW officials in relation to their in-ring performance, professionalism and effort. Bofore the two wrestlers could be announced, the promotion went into closer and the title was abandoned. SEE ALSO |
