KINGDOM HEARTS In Kingdom Hearts, Maleficent was abducting the seven Princesses of Heart in hopes to open the pathway that would lead to Kingdom Hearts. The protagonist of the game, Sora must save them and stop Maleficent. Despite Sora, Donald Duck, and Goofy's best efforts, Maleficent succeeds in capturing most of the princesses. Her plan does not go as planned when she attempts to capture the seventh princess, whom she initially believes is Wendy Darling, from Disney's Peter Pan . Wendy, while she is seemingly the one of the said princesses, does not have a pure enough heart. Maleficent later realizes the seventh is actually Kairi , a friend of Sora and Riku , and uses Riku to achieve her goal. In turn, Riku (through Xehanort 's influence) gains a Keyblade from their captive hearts. KINGDOM HEARTS II In Kingdom Hearts II , the princesses do not play as big a role as in the first installment. Some of them make an appearance when Sora visits their world (most notably Belle and Jasmine). However, at Hollow Bastion , Sora and his friends realize the names of those princesses is the password needed to unlock Ansem's computer. They successfully use that password until Tron changes the password to be the names of Sora, Donald, and Goofy. THE PRINCESSES OF HEART Aurora (from Sleeping Beauty ) :A princess who came from the same world as Maleficent and had her heart stolen and world destroyed by the Heartless . She doesn't appear in Kingdom Hearts II. Snow White (from Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs ) :A princess whose world was destroyed by the Heartless and was kidnapped so that her heart could be taken away and used to open Kingdom Hearts. She doesn't appear in Kingdom Hearts II. Cinderella (from Cinderella ) :A kind young woman whose world is destroyed by the Heartless. Like Aurora and Snow White, she is kidnapped and her heart stolen. She may or may not be a princess through marriage to the Prince from the Cinderella movie. Cinderella's Fairy Godmother makes an appearance and helps Sora. She doesn't appear in Kingdom Hearts II. Jasmine (from Aladdin ) :The princess of Agrabah, who is kidnapped by Jafar and taken to Maleficent. Aladdin, Jasmine's beloved, is helpless to recover her heart and puts his faith in Sora, as well as allowing his friend, Genie, to lend Sora a hand whenever needed. Jasmine appears again in '' Kingdom Hearts II '', in a smaller role. Alice (from Alice In Wonderland ) :After being accused of treason and theft by the Queen of Hearts, she is captured by Maleficent while Sora faced the Queen's troop. Because of the purity of her heart, Alice was branded as a Princess of Heart and was taken by the Heartless. She doesn't appear in Kingdom Hearts II. Belle (from Beauty And The Beast ) :An intelligent young woman who pushes away the Beast, despite her love for him, so that he will not be hurt by Maleficent. She was born a peasant, and has not yet become a princess through marrying the Beast as she does in ''Beauty and the Beast''. She appears in the Hollow Bastion and gives Sora the ''Divine Rose'' keyblade after Sora saves her. In ''Kingdom Hearts II'', Xaldin attempted to kidnap Belle as part of his back-up plan to force Beast to give into his rage and despair. Unlike last time, she actually has a speaking role, and her role is greater in Kingdom Hearts II than in the original. Kairi (original character from Kingdom Hearts ) :Originally from the castle of Radiant Garden , she is sent to the Destiny Islands by Xehanort in order to confirm his theory that a Princess of Heart and the Keyblade are connected. After washing up on the shores of the islands, she becomes a childhood friend of Sora and Riku. She disappears when the Destiny Islands are consumed by darkness and her heart disappears. As her past is unknown, whether or not she is royalty is a mystery. While Maleficent has her body, Kairi's heart remains elusive. Promising to help him find Kairi, Maleficent uses Kairi's friend Riku to deal with Sora for her. Her status as a Princess of Heart was revealed by Xehanort (in Riku's body). |
