Prince of Songkla University (also spelled '''Songkhla''') was the first university of Southern Thailand . It was established in 1967 . As of 2003, it has 24,011 students. The university is named after Mahidol Adulyadej , Prince of Songkla (Songkhla). In the first year the students studied at a temporary campus in Bangkok , 1968 the permanent campus in Pattani was established. In 1971 the campus in Hat Yai was opened, which is now its biggest campus, having more than 50% of the students. Further campuses were opened in Phuket (1977), Surat Thani (1990) and Trang (1991).In addition, Pattani campus may separate in the future. FACULTIES/COLLEGES/UNITS Had Yai Campus
