Pocket Internet Explorer is an Internet browser for Pocket PC that comes loaded by default with Windows Mobile . It does similar operations as the popular Internet Explorer browser; Microsoft develops both Pocket Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer for Windows CE , PIE consuming less resources and providing less functionality.


VERSION HISTORY

Pocket Internet Explorer was first introduced in support, including Frameset s and tables. PIE 3.0, introduced in July 1998 with Windows CE 2.10, added support for JScript and various secure protocols.

The next version, Pocket Internet Explorer 4, was the first to support IFRAME s, ActiveX , CSS , VBScript , Java applets, as well as further extending support for HTTPS and advanced HTML features. Pocket PC 2002 version of PIE brought limited support for DHTML and XML , and also the ability to browse WAP sites – a feature not present in Internet Explorer for PC. Currently it's a very feature-rich browser, supporting FTP , XSL , Cookie s, animated GIF s and much more.
