It was set in Fenn Street school and was noted for featuring several actors older than school age in the roles of the pupils. This was exacerbated as the series progressed. Notably, Carol Hawkins played Sharon between 1971 and 1972 , and was 23 years old when the programme finished. The series later spun off into a film. The series' name is variously recorded as ''Please Sir'', ''Please, Sir'', and ''Please Sir!'', but the last of these is the punctuation used in the Internet Movie Database A spin-off series, '' The Fenn Street Gang ,'' followed the adventures of group of former pupils' in the adult world after leaving their schooldays behind them.
