Information About

Playdium

Playdium is a Canadian company which operates a large Arcade / Amusement Park in Mississauga , Ontario , Canada . The company also operated arcades in downtown Toronto , at the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta and at Metrotown in Burnaby, British Columbia . The original park features Go-kart tracks, miniature Golf courses, sand Volleyball courts, Rock Climbing walls, Pitching And Batting practice areas, and Virtual Reality Video Arcades . The Playdium locations also had party rooms (for hosting birthday parties, "pentathlons", and other special events) and a sports bar.

The downtown Toronto location closed down in 2001. The West Edmonton Mall location was closed in May 2004. In January 2005, Playdium also closed down its Burnaby location, due to increased rents and failure to update their arcade machines. Additionally, to stay on the legal path, they only used legally (locally) licensed machines, and thus most of the games were considered old versions, and became unpopular with many visitors. In addition, the advances in console and PC games made many games at Playdium redundant.
