Information AboutPlac Wilsona |
|
It was built in late 1920's as the main centre of the newly-founded borough and one of the star-shaped squares that sprung up all over Warsaw. Originally named after president of the United States Woodrow Wilson , after the World War II in 1951 it was renamed to ''Plac Komuny Paryskiej'' ( Paris Commune Square). In 1991 the original name was restored. Beneath the square there is a Warsaw Metro station of the same name ( Plac Wilsona Metro Station ). At the moment it is the northern end to Warsaw Metro Line 1. It was opened in April 2005 - more than four months later than originally scheduled. |
