Pete Orta (born August 26 , 1971 in San Antonio, Texas ) is a Christian Rock singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He was a member of Christian Rock Band Petra from 1996 to 2000 . Pete got his first Guitar when he was 4. He has said playing it was his therapy "growing up in an abusive home" {Link without Title} In 1996 , Orta joined Petra and, along fellow guitarist Kevin Brandow , and bassist Lonnie Chapin , contributed greatly to the band's effort in the late 90s. He even singed lead vocals in the band's song "Breathe In" included in their Grammy winning album, ''Double Take'' (Petra's lead singer, John Schlitt sang backing vocals in that song.) In 2001 , he left the band to tour with Singer Jaci Velasquez . He also performed a duet with her titled "Season of Love" for her album ''Christmas''. He then got a record deal for a solo album, and in 2001 he released his Album titled ''Born Again''. TRIVIA
