''Penicillium notatum'', also known as '''''Penicillium chrysogenum''''', is a mold commonly found in most homes and a basis of Beta-lactam Antibiotics . Penicillium is known as the blue-green mould on bread, fruits, and nuts. It is also used for the production of green and blue mould cheese.

Penicillium grows at its peak during the spring and winter, but the mould has no seasonal variation. It is a well-known group of brushed-shaped Microorganism s belonging to the ''fungimycin'' family, and has no known sexual state. Penicillium is Heterotroph ic.


PENICILLIN

''Penicillium notatum'' is the mold from which the well-known Antibiotic Penicillin originates, isolated and named by Alexander Fleming in 1928 . Fleming realized that it could kill bacteria when he saw on a test specimin that the area around it was free of bacteria. In 1945 he was awarded the Nobel Prize In Medicine for his work.
