It is prominently situated on part of the Sandstone ridge running north-south across west Cheshire, close to the genuinely medieval Beeston Castle , approximately three miles south-west of the village of Tarporley . It is known among UK Live Action Role-playing Game rs as the home of the original Treasure Trap club. It has also been used as a location for several films and TV shows, including '' Doctor Who ''.
