Paul Reeves




Sir Paul was educated at Wellington College , Victoria University Of Wellington , St John's College , Auckland and St Peter's College , Oxford (where he is also a Fellow).

Sir Paul was first made Bishop (of Waiapu) in 1971 .

He was the first Governor-General of part- Maori descent, and the first clergyman to hold the post. After his retirement he attracted controversy by making a statement regarded by some as espousing the concept of New Zealand Becoming A Republic , despite having served as the Queen 's representative in the country.

After his retirement from the vice-regal office he became the Anglican Observer at the United Nations in New York, and then chaired the Fijian constitutional review commission.

He is currently the Chancellor of the Auckland University Of Technology .
