Paul Dean played for several years alongside his more famous brother, Jay "Dizzy" Dean who was also a pitcher. Because of his brother's nickname, Paul also had a nickname, "Daffy", but this did not reflect his personality; he was considered quiet and serious. Together, Dizzy and Paul pitched for the Cardinals in the 1934 World Series , which they won in seven games. Paul Dean holds a distinction for pitching a No-hitter on September 21 , 1934, at the age of 21. His career ended several years later due to an injury. He died at age 67 in Springdale, Arkansas .
