Patrik Eliáš (born April 13 , 1976 in Třebíč ) is a Czech Professional Hockey Left Winger . He currently plays for the National Hockey League 's New Jersey Devils . He was drafted by the Devils in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft , second round, 51st Overall.


PLAYING CAREER

Drafted by New Jersey 51st overall (2nd round) in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft .

As part of the A-Line with Petr Sykora and Jason Arnott , he helped lead the team to the 1999-2000 Stanley Cup championship. The following year he scored a team record 96 points in the regular season, third best in the league. He also won the Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 2002-03. During the 2004-05 NHL Lockout , he played in Russia where he contracted Hepatitis A ; he made his first appearance of the 2005-06 NHL Season on January 3, 2006, against the Florida Panthers , and started the season on a roll, with eight points in his first four games. In the first game of the 2006 Playoffs against the New York Rangers , he became the tenth player to score six points in an NHL playoff game, with two goals and four assists.

RECORDS

Eliáš is the only NHL player to be awarded two penalty shots in an overtime period. Both
occurred in games versus the New York Islanders and in both cases, Eliáš
missed the penalty shot.
