OVERVIEW


Established in 1875, Park University is an independent, private institution, accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities. Many of its students are members of the US military. Its motto is "Fides et Labor" (Faith and Work). Its core values are:

LOCATION


The principal campus of Park is located in Parkville, Missouri , high on the bluff overlooking the Missouri River . The School for Extended Learning has established campus centers on military installations across the United States. The Graduate School is located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri . There are separate campuses in the Kansas City area and a campus in Austin, Texas . The school also offers online degree programs.


CIVIC ENGAGEMENT


Civic engagement has been a University priority since its inception. More recently, Park students have raised funds for tsunami and Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Park established an International Center for Civic Engagement in 2005.


ATHLETICS: PARKVILLE CAMPUS


Park University is a member institution of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) of the National Association Of Intercollegiate Athletics . Its official Mascot is the Pirate . The Women's Soccer Team has made national championship tournament appearances in four years (1994, 1996, 2002 and 2003) and finished as national runner-up in 1994. The Men’s Soccer Team has made national championship tournament appearances in four years (1962, 1984, 2002 and 2003). Park University actively supports the National Association Of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Champions of Character program, which was established to instill an understanding of character values in sport and provide practical tools for student-athletes, coaches and parents to use in modeling exemplary character traits.

  • R. Lynn Bondurant, Jr. (1961) - former Educational Programs Officer in the External Programs Directorate at the NASA Glenn Research Center .


  • Hans Brisch (1964) - former Chancellor of Higher Education for the State of Oklahoma.
