The is the shortest line of the
Métro operating in
Paris ,
France . Indeed, its length doesn't exceed 1.3 km (0.8 miles). The line has been built at a deep level which explains why the platforms at Pelleport and Saint-Fargeau stations can be reached only through an elevator. Because of its limited length and trafic, the line is served with shortened
MP 67 trains of only 3 cars.
- November 21st, 1921 : The Gambetta - Porte des Lilas section is inaugurated as a portion of the Line 3 .
- March 27th, 1971 : That portion becomes independent and become the line 3bis once the Line 3 has been extended further to the East following an other path.
The merger of line 3bis and
Line 7bis , connected through an existing rail tunnel and allowing the opening of a closed station (
Haxo ), is being studied. The resulting line would become Line 15.
