Paddy O'connell




He began working on BBCWorld and BBC news24 as a New York correspondent where he often presented the business news. He is best known for his TV presenting work on Britain's digital channel BBC3 . Paddy O'Connell also presents weekly on BBC Radio 4, covering for Fi Glover on the Sunday morning '' Broadcasting House ''.

In 2004 he became the commentator on BBC3 for the Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals in which he was an instant hit with British viewers. He also presented a behind the scene look at the Eurovision Song Contest , shown on BBC3 and was again a hit with the viewers. Many regard him as Terry Wogan 's deputy at the Eurovision Song Contest , having hosted preview shows and providing semi-final commentary in recent years.

Paddy's intrepid attitude and his quick wit and sarcasm have lead to his career and led to him appearing in popular gay magazine
''Attitude'', and listed as one of the top 40 gay men on British TV.
Although O'Connell's main flagship programmes have been axed he remains a strong favourite with the viewers and it has been confirmed he will be in live in Athens in 2006 for more Eurovision fun.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
