Ossa (today '''Kissavos''', greek ''Κίσσαβος'') is a mountain (1978 metres altitude) in the district of Larissa in Thessaly , between Pelion and Olympus , from which it is separated by the Valley Of Tempe . In Greek mythology The Giants are said to have attempted to pile Pelion upon it during the Gigantomachy , in their attempt to scale Olympus. The names "Ossa", "Tempe" and "Pelion" may also be found as names of neighbouring farms in the Witteberg mountains of the Eastern Cape, South Africa. |
