As with Onegai Teacher (OneTea) the title is sometimes shortened to the dual language pun (OneTwo).
The story centers around three high school students: Maiku Kamishiro, Karen Onodera, and Miina Miyafuji. The three were drawn together by a picture of their childhood home. However, the picture only has two children, a boy and a girl. Hence, only one of the girls, Karen or Miina, is related to Maiku. The only other identifying feature of the pair in the picture is that the boy and the girl have eyes of the same color; a feature that furthers the ambiguity as all three of them have the same eye colour.
Onegai Twins, like Onegai Teacher, dramatizes a very touchy, taboo topic. In the case of Onegai Twins, the story features possible

The main concern of the male lead, Maiku, is that he is in love with both of the girls. In addition, the two girls are in love with Maiku, forming a love triangle of potential incest. The three main characters, mostly the two female leads, were in a predicament of wanting to discover their past versus the risk of losing a romantic relationship.
It should be noted that while Onegai Teacher includes some sci-fi themes, Onegai Twins is largely grounded in realism but also includes more
Fan Service , including occasional nudity (mainly reserved for scenes of characters bathing).
Onegai Twins is sometimes criticized for addressing a subject which ironically comes up quite a bit in
Dating Sim s, thus making more of a typical
Bishoujo Series than Onegai Teacher was.
In addition, the identity of Maiku's sister is different in the manga, with no real consequence in the change.

- (四道 晴子 ''Shidō Haruko''), bubbly, freshman. Likes frogs and insects. Acknowledges that her brother is a pervert but seems completely oblivious to such mature matters.
- (島崎 康生 ''Shimazaki Kōsei''), pretends to be gay, but harbors feelings for Tsubaki.
- (織部 椿 ''Oribe Tsubaki''), Vice President of the Student Council. Busty. Her brother died at a young age and to fill a void, she latched onto Kousei then Maiku.
- (森野 苺 ''Morino Ichigo''), President of the Student Council. Enjoys getting dirt on other students and eschews male companionship. Has a married younger sister named Ringo.
- (風見 みずほ ''Kazami Mizuho''), teacher. Married to Kei Kusanagi. Somewhat ditzy but kindhearted and sociable. Is sometimes seen eating Pocky.
- (まりえ), Mizuho's diminuitive assistant and companion. Nicknamed "Fushigi-chan" ("Little Wonder") by Karen, he makes occasional appearances in the neighborhood and at school. Enjoys eating Prech, a snack food based on the real-life snack Pretz .
- (草薙 桂 ''Kusanagi Kei''), senpai and husband of Mizuho Kazami.
- (縁川小石 ''Heikawa Koishi''), student and proprietor of Herikawa Groceries (as well as Miina and Karen's manager after the two of them obtain part-time jobs at the store).
There is also a CD drama spinoff of the "Onegaiverse" called ''
Onegai Friends ''. Based on some apparent official art and the series' tendency to touch on unconventional romances, many American fans initially presumed it would be about a teenage
Lesbian couple.
