The cricket ground is near the Old Trafford Football Stadium , in the borough of Trafford in Greater Manchester . In 1993 , Old Trafford was the site of one of the most remarkable events in the history of cricket, Shane Warne 's so-called Ball Of The Century to Mike Gatting . As Of 2006 , its capacity is 22,000 for Test matches, and 14,000 for other matches. Lancashire have been reviewing their options for providing themselves with a larger more modern ground for some time; either redeveloping Old Trafford or moving to a new location elsewhere.
