The building is currently closed for renovations and will reopen in July 2006. New additions will include a revamped gallery space, the Visible Conservation Center, and the Luce Foundation Center for American Art, which will accommodate 5000 artworks installed in glass cases for public viewing. Also included in the plans is a courtyard with a canopy designed by Foster And Partners which has yet to be constructed.
