As of 2005 , the town has an estimated Population of 9,216 and a Density of 43 persons per Km² . The total area is 212 km². MERGER On March 3 , 2006 , the village of Natasho from Onyu District merged into the town of Ōi, which is since written with Hiragana instead of Kanji . Before the merger the town was written 大飯町.
