PUBLIC AWARENESS In 2001-02 Odle Middle School was one of 172 schools in the country and two schools in the state, to be awarded a Blue Ribbon by the U.S. Department of Education. {Link without Title} . Odle won first place in the WSMC Blaine Mathematics Competition with a sixth grade team in the '03-'04 school year and seventh grade team in the '04-'05 school year. The Odle chess team also won at state level during the '05-'06 school year, with many players winning individual awards for their grade. ACADEMY OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS Odle is the home of the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts which offers advanced classes such as Academy Band, Academy Orchestra, Academy Choir, Academy Theatre Arts, and Academy Visual Art. These classes take students beyond the levels of other schools in excelling in their fine arts electives with more advanced and challenging curriculum. PRISM Odle Middle School also has a program called PRISM. PRISM is a highly gifted program. The program is continued from an elementary PRISM program and consists of separate core classes in Science, Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies. The high school program, which has yet to be initiated, extends the science, English, and social studies classes further in the IB program at Interlake High School. In the International Baccalaureate program, PRISM students take the IB program from 10th to 11th grade, rather than the usual 11th and 12th grade. The University of Washington then creates special classes for PRISM students in their senior year, when they actually have enough credits to graduate early, such as the "Social/Political/Economical/Ethical case studies" program. It was decided that the PRISM high school will continue to be Interlake High School , and not changed to Sammamish High School, in a recent vote. The PRISM path of schools goes from Stevenson Elementary School to Odle Middle School to the aforementioned Interlake High School. PRISM is always located in the Bellevue school (elementary, middle, or high) with the lowest test scores, so as to raise the school's average test scores and make the school's statistics better. ACADEMY OF MATH, SCIENCE, AND APPLIED TECHNOLOGY The Academy of Math, Science, and Applied Technology (AMSAT) offers students interesed in science to take a more challenging and indepth course in that subject. The course are twice the length of a regular science class offered at Odle and are taught by a small number of teachers. Students are able to explore the world of science and technology in the computer labs in the classrooms and during building projects and field trips. The program was started by David Green who retired at the end of the school year in 2004. The academy is continued into High School at Sammamish High in Bellevue, Washington. EXTERNAL LINKS
