Oberlin Conservatory Of Music




The Oberlin Conservatory of Music, located in Oberlin, Ohio , was founded in 1865 and is the nation's oldest continuously operating conservatory. It is considered one of the best music schools in the United States, and its alumni and alumnae can be found in many professional ensembles. It is one of the few American conservatories to be completely attached to a liberal arts college. One advantage that this offers students is the opportunity to seriously pursue degrees in both music and a traditional liberal arts subject (through Oberlin College via the five year Double-Degree program).

The conservatory building was designed by Minoru Yamasaki in 1963 . The style of the building closely resembles Yamasaki's later design of the World Trade Center in New York City .
