North Woolwich railway station is a Railway Station in London forming the eastern terminus of the main route of the North London Line . The next station to the west is Silvertown . It is in Travelcard Zone 3 . North Woolwich station was opened on 14 June 1847. The original station buildings and one of the two platforms are now occupied by the North Woolwich Old Station Museum . Adjacent to the station, there is a Foot Tunnel across the River Thames , and the northern terminal of the Woolwich Free Ferry , leading to central Woolwich . The station is likely to close in late 2006 to allow the section of the North London Line between Stratford and Canning Town to be converted to become part of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). The line between Canning Town and North Woolwich will close completely; however, the new extension of the DLR from Canning Town to King George V (which opened in December 2005 ) follows a similar route and will provide a suitable replacement service. King George V station is situated close to North Woolwich station. EXTERNAL LINKS |
