''Halo numbers'' are a system which orders official Nine Inch Nails releases. They correspond to the sequence in which the releases were made, and are named by the word ''halo'' which precedes the number on the release. For example, the fifth NIN release, ''Broken,'' is adorned with the phrase ''Halo Five.'' Halo numbers are sometimes modified for alternate versions of a release.
''Pretty Hate Machine'' era: 1988 - 1991
- Halo Five - '' Broken ''
- Halo Six - '' Fixed ''
''The Downward Spiral'' era: 1994 - 1998
Seed numbers ''appear'' to catalog Nine Inch Nails promotional material in the manner of ''halo numbers''. This system was started in 2005 , but has yet to have been confirmed.
