Information About

New World Hockey Association

It was projected that the league would begin operation in the 2004-2005 season and teams from Dallas , Detroit , Halifax , Hamilton , Miami , Toronto , Vancouver and Quebec City were mooted. When that and other plans failed to materialize, the rights to the organization's name and logo were sold to a British Columbia investor.

The World Hockey Association is a publically traded company with the ticker symbol of WHKY .

As of 2006, the league's website features only a cryptic page touting the WHA Super Junior League , with the scores from two games held at the beginning of October 2005. While some reports claim that the management has secured the rights to operate the remaining teams of the former junior C level Southeast Junior Hockey League , according to the USCHO nothing more has been heard of this loop.

TEAMS FOR THE WHA SUPER JUNIOR LEAGUE

MIAMI TOROS AND NEW ENGLAND HUSKIES

When the TEAMS pull down menu is clicked, two more teams are cited than are seen on the scoreboard. One is the Miami Toros (quite possibly the Miami team planned for the full-scale WHA), and the other is simply identified as NEW ENGLAND (in caps). When that is clicked, a roster page for the New England Huskies comes up, without any players. The last game on the schedule for the Miami Toros was their home opener against the Tampa Bay Sharks. The last Huskies game on the schedule was a game against the Daytona Blazers, in the WHA Junior Hockey Tournament in January. The only working link is a late February 2006 story about the hiring of a special consultant. The only hint as to what league the Toros may play in is seen on the main WHA website. In fact, the entire idea of the "WHA JHL" seems to be a renaming/cover for the South Eastern Junior Hockey League, or SEJHL. A link on the WHA page leads to a story about the SEJHL. There are six team logos shown, and one is a bull, indicating the Miami Toros . The New England Huskies are now a member of the Eastern Junior Hockey League. [http://www.easternjunior.com/]
