Information About

New Age Outlaws

The James Gang are a Professional Wrestling Tag Team in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling consisting of BG James and Kip James . They were originally known as '''The New Age Outlaws''' in the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment) where BG James was known as '''"Road Dogg" Jesse James''' and Kip James was known as '''"Bad Ass" Billy Gunn'''.

As part of D-Generation X , the The New Age Outlaws were famed for their trash-talking, loud-mouthed, vulgar, and violent ways. Their entrance involved Road Dogg shouting over the microphone, "''Oh You Didn't Know? Your ass better call somebody!''" followed by Gunn adding the infamous DX chant, "''Suck It!''".

WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION

The Outlaws were formed when struggling superstars Billy Gunn , then known as Rock-a-Billy and "Road Dogg" Jesse James , then known as "The Real Double J" Jesse James, teamed-up in late 1997 on an episode of Shotgun Saturday Night after months of feuding. On an edition of Monday Night Raw, Jesse James walked out after Rock-A-Billy had just lost a match, asking him to turn on his manager The Honky Tonk Man and team with him. Rock-A-Billy answered by smashing a guitar on Honky Tonk Man's head and telling James he was in.

Rock-A-Billy redubbed himself "Badd Ass" Billy Gun and Jesse James rechristened himself the Road Dogg. The team made an immediate impact on the tag team scene with blatant acts against other tag teams. The team originally did not have an entrance theme, they walked out to the ring with only Road Dogg making a rant against their opponents. It was also this time they stole the shoulder pads of then Tag Team Champions the Legion Of Doom . The team was well noted for pulling wins out of nowhere via cheating and use of weapons, such as a stuffed pig loaded with a brick.

By the end of 1997, they had defeated the LOD for the titles. The name "outlaws" came from the night they won the belts. Following the match, in which they stole the win and then ran to a waiting car, RAW announcer Jim Ross likened them to outlaws leaving a robbery. The name stuck and the New Age Outlaws quickly became the most hated team in WWF, second only to D-Generation X (DX). During their feud with LOD, the Outlaws joined DX in assaulting the legendary tag team on an episode of '' Monday Night RAW ''.

At the 1998 Royal Rumble the New Age Outlaws retained their titles against the Legion of Doom. Shortly there after, they began a feud with Mick Foley . They first fought him as Dude Love, then as Mankind and finally Cactus Jack. To help him against the Outlaws, Cactus brought in Chainsaw Charlie .

This feud was highlighted by the Outlaws locking Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie in a dumpster and sending it off the entrance ramp on to the concrete floor. The Outlaws would team with Triple H and Savio Vega at '' No Way Out '' against Stone Cold Steve Austin , Owen Hart , Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie.

At WrestleMania XIV, the New Age Outlaws lost the titles to Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie in a Dumpster Match. However, the next night on ''RAW'' with the aid of Triple H and X-Pac , the Outlaws regained the titles and joined DX.

The Outlaws Switched from Heels to Tweeners , and feuded with many different tag teams over the course of 1998; their immense popularity was part of what helped the WWF challenge WCW for ratings supremacy.

They lost the tag titles to Kane and Mankind in the summer of 1998, only to regain the titles from that same team at SummerSlam in a handicap match (Kane No-show ed).

In late 1998 Vince McMahon's Corporation tried to tempt the Outlaws away from DX and failed. This led to the Outlaws losing the titles to Ken Shamrock and the Big Boss Man .

Break up

As 1999 started, the Outlaws slowly began to fade away. Road Dogg began to move towards the Hardcore Title while Billy Gunn began to challenge for the Intercontinental Championship (ironically, during the course of these challenges, Road Dogg won the IC title and Gunn won the Hardcore title). As 1999 continued Gunn won the 1999 King Of The Ring tournament and eventually turned heel.

During the Fall of 1999 the Outlaws reunited, first as babyfaces, but then as heels when they rejoined the reformed DX.

Early 2000 saw the final end of the Outlaws when Billy Gunn received a serious arm injury during a match with The Dudley Boyz . Gunn exited DX after "losing his cool" and getting into a fight with all DX members.

Road Dogg would then team with fellow DX member X-Pac; however, this new team was far from what fans had experienced under the Outlaws.

This marked the end of a tag team that had embodied the "Attitude" era of the WWF. They would tag one last time along with Triple H and Chyna on a November edition of Raw Is War in a one-off DX reunion to take on the Radicalz . After this both Gunn and Road Dogg went their separate ways, Gunn would eventually drop his "Mr. Ass" Gimmick and Road Dogg would team with new WWF superstar K-Kwik .

Road Dogg was released from his WWF contract in late 2000.

Billy Gunn was released from his WWF/WWE contract in 2004 after 10 years with the company.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING

Both men would meet again in the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling promotion after Billy Gunn was released from the WWE. There was speculation as for the two to reunite under the names of BG James (Jesse James took on his real name) and Kip James (Billy Gunn assumed the James Family surname). BG James' faction, the 3Live Kru , was feuding with Monty Brown and Kip James, with BG being the swing member. At TNA No Surrender 2005 , there was a tease of the reuniting, with the crowd chanting "New Age Outlaws", but BG James remained with the 3LK.

Through October and November 2005, Kip James helped 3LK in run-ins with Team Canada , and on the November 26 episode of '' TNA IMPACT! '', 3LK inducted Kip into the group, renaming themselves the 4Live Kru. However, at TNA Turning Point 2005 , Konnan turned on the group, eventually forming his own group with Apolo and Homicide . Ron "The Truth" Killings went out on his own afterward, leaving only Kip and BG together.

TNA has acquired a live trademark on the name "New Age Outlaw". It's possible that this would be a precursor to BG James and Kip James reforming the team that made them so popular in WWE. Some rumors claim that they may possibly appear as The New Age Outlawz and give Kip the chance to appear as '''"New Age Outlaw" Billy G'''. The team however has been interviewed by independent wrestling talk shows since the 3LK breakup and referred to as '''The James Connection'''. The team was officially called '''The James Gang''' upon their official reunion in January 2006.

On January 14 , 2006 , BG and Kip announced that they had reunited in the face of Konnan and his new group The Latin American Exchange (LAX), after LAX attacked BG's real life father "Bullet" Bob Armstrong . Their official in-ring reunion took place the next night at TNA Final Resolution 2006 , defeating Elix Skipper and David Young of the Diamonds In The Rough . They have since been in an ongoing feud with LAX, which has included more appearances by "Bullet" Bob Armstrong .

CHAMPIONSHIPS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

INTRODUCTION

The New Age Outlaws are perhaps best-known for their vocal introduction before each match. The "champions of the world" and "New Age Outlaws" phrases would be dragged out for effect. The words varied depending on the title status of the wrestlers; a monologue during a tag-team championship run would be as such:

In WWE
Road Dogg: ''Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. D-Generation X, proudly brings to you, its ("soon-to-be" if they weren't already) WWF Tag Team Champions of the World! The Road Dogg Jesse James! The Bad Ass Billy Gunn! The New! Age! Outlaws!''

Billy Gunn: ''And if you ain't down with that, we got two words for ya—SUCK IT!''

This intro became a trademark, and often times the crowd would chant along the entire bit. One time at a house show and at the 1998 Survivor Series, the entire "script" was written out on fan signs and was held by over 100 people. Of course, if one of the members came out alone, say for a singles match, then they would instead say "one half of its" (soon-to-be) World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Champions, or replace the Tag Team title with the singles belt they either held or were fighting for.

And in TNA

BG James ''Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. TNA Wrestling, proudly brings to you, its ("soon-to-be" if they weren't already) NWA Tag Team Champions of the World! The B-to-the-G-To-The-Jizzel! and The K-To-I-To-The-Pizzel! Thats the way we hang cause together we are The James Gang.''
Kip James ''And if you're not down with that, we got three G's for ya GET IT, GOT IT, GOOD''
