CITY NAME The city was founded by duke Warcislaw IV in 1310 and the municipality was modelled after Szczecin . The initial city name was New Szczecin (In Latin: Stetin Nova, in German: Neu Stetin, Neustettin, In Polish Nowy Szczecin, Nowoszczecin 1707) but also Little Szczecin: in German: Klein Stettin, in Polish: Mały Szczecin and now Szczecinek.
