AWARDS/ACHIEVEMENTS

NSIT was rated as one of the top 10 Engineering Institutes of India by an IDC-DataQuest-NASSCOM survey in June 2005. The same survey also rated NSIT as the 5th best in terms of student placements in the country.

NSIT was rated as the best Engineering Institute in the country after the Indian Institutes of Technology by the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) in June 2002.

An NSIT team consisting of Rohan Murarka,K.K.Mukund,Anish Johnson and Abhishek Dimri won the 2nd BBC University Challenge Quiz in January 2005 , triumphing over the Indian Institute of Management(IIM), Kozhikode team in the finals. Around 350 four-member teams from India’s top colleges and universities originally entered the competition, with 24 selected to participate in the television rounds of the quiz. The team from NSIT initially only just made it to the second round of the quiz but then went on to beat JIPMER (Pondicherry), NIT (Trichy) and National Law School (Bangalore) in the subsequent rounds.

A team of NSIT students, Kanav Abrol, Arvind Batra, Gurusharan Singh and Manas Mittal, came in as runners up at the Windows Embedded Student Challenge organised by Microsoft, in August 2005. The finals comprised of 30 teams.

CODE FOR BILL :In an all India contest by Microsoft to select the numero uno technologist from India to work with Bill Gates technical team for one year, NSIT dominates the list of 20 people who have been offered the internship for one year with three offers whereas no other college has more than one student in the list.

Nitesh Prakash, Parul Batra and Vikas Gupta of COE 3rd year have won the Simagine Cup 2006 Maxis Award.

PLACEMENTS

When it comes to job placements, NSIT students have it made. NSIT was ranked 5th amongst engineering colleges in India with regard to placements, according to a survey by DataQuest. The excellent relations enjoyed by the institute with the industry is a result of the good work being done in the industry by NSIT graduates.

Typically, placements start in the beginning of the final year for B.E. students, and by the end of the first month, over 95% of the batch is already placed! Students often end up getting more than one offer(some even three to four) of employment and then have the luxury of choosing to work with one industry leader or the other.

The companies coming to NSIT include Adobe, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Cisco, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Trilogy, Conexant, EvalueServe etc.
A sampling of the companies that regularly come to the campus for placements can be found here .

GRADUATE STUDIES AFTER NSIT

A sizeable portion of NSIT students have also been going abroad in recent times and have managed to secure admissions in some of the best universities of the world like Stanford, MIT, UIUC, Georgia Tech and the University of Michigan, to name just a few.

A career in management is the rage nowadays and NSIT has been sending a regular stream of students to top management schools in India like the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM), FMS (Delhi) and XLRI (Jamshedpur), as well as B-schools abroad like the Chicago GSB, Kellogg, Wharton, etc.

SOCIETIES

NSIT has active student chapters of various well-recognised technical socities such as Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Instrumentation Systems and Automation Society (ISA), Society of Automotive Engineers, and Computer Society of India (CSI).

Besides these, there are a host of other socities within the college which encourage students to join and contribute substantially to their overall development during college life. These include the dramatics club, singing club, trekking club, book club, movies club and industrial visits' socities.

Also one of the most active societies of NSIT is The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) which organizes industrial trips to companies like Maruti, Honda, Yamaha, HNG etc
thereby introducing the students to the industries. It also convenes an annual conclave by the name of MECHANIKA every year which includes technical presentations by the automotive giants, mechanical quiz, case study and other technical events. It is the only society which can boast of such an event.

TREKKING CLUB

A team of six young, active, adventure-loving final year students made a most tortuous 90 km trek to the Pindari Glacier. Putting their lives at risk this team succesfully scaled the glacier and reached the very source of the Pindari river at a height of 3897 m above sea level. The Himalayas are not nice hosts and the members braved hail and landslides. One of the team members was injured while escaping from wild animals. The team members were: Rahul Gupta, Rajat Mamgain, Nitin Tewari, Rajat Goel, Stanzin Tsesdup and Pulkit Midha.
