British students correlate the N.E.W.T.s with their own A-levels which, though less exactly as that with Ordinary Wizarding Level s (O.W.L.s), occur at the same age. American students, on the other hand, equate them to their Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. Like O.W.L.s, N.E.W.T.s are graded on the following scale: (With Muggle student equivalents in parentheseses) ''Passing grades''
''Failing grades''
