Nalgonda is a town in Nalgonda District in Andhra Pradesh , India . The town has a population of 110,651 ( Agglomeration 111,745) ( 2001 census). The district has a population of 3,238,449 and covers an area of 14,240 km&2. The literacy rate is 58%. Sagar, as it is called in Nalgonda, has the world's highest masonary dam and a Buddhist site dating back to the 3rd Century BC . The Buddhist site, Nagarjuna Konda, is situated in the reservoir of the dam. It is named after the Buddhist monk Acharya Nagarjuna who was instrumental in spreading Buddhism in this part of the country. #Panagal: 3 km from Nalgonda town.
