MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS Representatives from the founding organizations — the Network Processing Forum , the PCI Industrial Computers Manufacturers Group , and the Service Availability Forum — began meeting in December 2004. The RapidIO Trade Association and the Optical Internetworking Forum subsequently joined. GOALS The MVA serves as a forum to discuss industry-wide issues. Certain issues are too broad through bi-lateral liaisons, and multi-lateral liaisons are needed. The MVA also helps coordinate cross-forum marketing efforts. Finally, the MVA provides a forum for its members to work on harmonizing their respective specifications aiming to avoid gaps, overlaps and inconsistencies that would lead to interoperability problems. OPERATIONAL MODEL The MVA operates as an ad-hoc committee with no budget of its own. It produces no specifications of its own and is limited to discussions of publically disclosed information.
