Morris is a rural riding located in the south of the province. In is bordered to the south by Emerson , to the north by Lakeside , to the east by Carman and Portage La Prairie , and to the west by Steinbach , La Verendrye and the City of Winnipeg . The largest communities in the riding are Morris and St. Malo . Other communities include Otterburne , Rosemont , St. Claude , St. Pierre-Jolys , St. Eustache and St. Francois Xavier The riding's population in 1996 was 19,962. As of 1999 , the average family income was $53,719, and the unemployment rate was 3.90%. Agriculture accounts for 23% of the riding's industry, followed by the retail trade at 10%. Eighteen per cent of Morris's residents are of German background, and a further 17% are French. The riding has the third-highest percentage of francophones in Manitoba.
