The company's first performance took place at the School of Fine Arts at the University Of Wisconsin-Milwaukee . Less than a year later the company began performing in Uihlein Hall at the Marcus Center For The Performing Arts , where it still performs today. In the 1970s the Milwaukee Ballet opened the Milwaukee Ballet School , the official school of the company. It is currently ranked among the top five ballet schools in the nation. The company gives approximately 45 performances each year, and has an annual attendance of over 70,000 people. They have performed '' The Nutcracker '' annually since 1977.
