Mikael Stanne is in the Swedish Melodic Death Metal band, Dark Tranquillity , and helped them realize their current sound through the album "Projector". He began playing Guitar in the band "In Flames", but left the band and began playing guitar in Dark Tranquility. He then began singing backing vocals, as well as contributing some lyrics. After Dark Tranquillity's former vocalists departure with the album '' The Gallery '' ( 1995 ), Stanne became the permanent lead vocalist; he stopped playing guitar, and began writing more lyrics, until with the album '' Haven '' ( 2000 ) he became the sole lyrics-writer for the band. Stanne's voice is a prime example of extreme metal vocals, and varies from the harsh sound proper of death metal to more operatic and melodic tones common in gothic metal. His clean vocals can be heard on the album "Projector" while his unmistakable growl can be heard at its best on the album '' Character '' He was a session vocalist for Swedish Melodic Death Metal band, In Flames , and was the lead vocalist on the album Lunar Strain ( 1994 ). Contrary to popular belief, he was never a full member of the band and only sang to help out the members of In Flames. He then joined the band Dark Tranquillity on rhythm guitar. |
